In Loving Memory
Dear Friends and Family,
On behalf of Gail, the Girls, and the rest of the family: Thank you all so much for your amazing and loving support. For the meals, the notes, the cards, the flowers, the prayers - thank you.
We will be posting some of the poems, songs, and words from the service here as well as other pictures and memories that portray the great man we all knew and loved.
Also, we have set up this site as a place for you to post your reflections, memories, and stories about Sam. You will find a "Comments" link under each posting where you can view the comments as well as post your own.
Sincerely,
The Stennis Family

I had never had the privledge of meeting Sam while we was with us on this Earth. In truth, at the time I was asked to attend his memorial service as a sentinal, I hadn't even recalled hearing his name. That being said, at the end of the service today, I felt a great loss by not having had the oppertunity to meet, share, and learn from such a Godly man. To the fammily I would just like to say that Sam taught me some deep truths today about what it is to be a husband and father. He is still touching people today by the life he lived and the love he had for each of you.
In high school, the Stennis house was known as my second home. Jeni and I thought we had the best setup-we spent the days at her house and the nights at mine (my curfew was later.) We thought we had pulled one over on our parents. (I know now that our parents were a lot smarter than we gave them credit for being.) The Stennis family as an extension of mine. I had two sets of parents and two sets of siblings. I was truly truly blessed. They were privy to flaws and idiosyncrasies only trusted to family. What was said of Sam's character was absolutely true! He was a Godly man full of love for his family. He loved me in spite of those things that to others would make me unlovable. A definite void is felt in my heart and he will be sorely missed. I do have to say that I am a little envious of Sam. He gets to crawl into the lap of our Father and stand beside my mother and sing praises to our King!
God Bless each of you! I love you all!
To the Stennis family, I want to say I am so sorry for your loss. Just today I was telling my husband about the wonderful man and diagnostician Dr. Stennis was and how I wish he were practicing in Amarillo. Dr. Sam was able to help my then 8 year old child to see clearly when no one else could, many years ago. He was kind and compassionate, and truly a wonder with a very scared little boy. I know that Dr. Stennis is with God and want you to know that one of his legacies... his gift of sight to my son is resulting in a man whose goal is to also help others, just like Dr. Sam, through the practice of medicine. God bless you all!
